Dear Fran and family-

My sincere condolences for your loss. I remember meeting Mark several years ago when he went kayaking with our Branford Kayaking Club out to the Thimble Islands.

Dear Fran and family, I just found out about Mark’s passing this morning. I first met him in the days when he and my brother Fred were goofy young men, sharing an apartment with their equally goofy dog, Toby. I will remember Mark for his kindness, ability to listen, warmth and genuineness. May you find peace in your memories of such a wonderful man.

Mr. Rabinowitz was the most special administrator I’ve ever known. He made my elementary school experience so full of joy and he planted a seed of passion in me. I am now an elementary school teacher and I aspire to leave the kind of mark he did. I will never forget his kindness, humor and generosity. Beach days, school-wide sleepovers and field days. I am blessed to have known him. I always reminding myself to be the best I can be. I say my prayers for everyone who loved him.

It may seem like a long time to remember someone who was my principal, but Mr. Rabinowitz was truly a special member of society, and every single students hearts. To be an elementary age principal requires compassion, love, and most importantly fun. I recall whenever we would see him out of school hours, or in the days after we “grew up” to be middle schoolers, he would welcome us with open arms saying “Ahhh my babies!! How are you doing?!” It didn’t ever feel like he was welcoming us as a student, but as an old friend or even family. To make the students smile, he would have his year book photo be himself dressed as a wizard, a special touch on his part. When we all “grew up” again and were members of the Branford High School, we all got a surprise one day of seeing him again, as he was running for office. Once again, remembering our names and opening his arms. He radiated joy, peace, and love every single day, and he will be dearly missed. I’m sorry for the families loss, and wishing you all as much joy as he put out in the future

Dear Fran, Sean, Megan & Mara,
We are so sad to hear of Mark’s passing. It was always a wonderful pleasure to see and have a conversation with Mark. Such a positive person who saw the good in everyone. Our daughter and son both experienced him as their principal years ago. Such a fantastic leader in the schools!
We will not be able to be at the services as we’re away, but please know we are thinking of all of you at this terribly difficult time.

love,
Alberta & Glenn Murdock & family
