Ruthy and I and our kids became like family with Stu, Bev, Ellen and Larry immediately when we first met them in a lineup in Toronto about 40 years ago. We invited them to our home for dinner that night and they parked their camper in a park close to our home to spend more days with us.
That closeness continued and Stu’s passing is as difficult for us as it would be for any family member. We have marvellous memories.
Some for me came during a trip Stu and I made with two other friends about three years ago to Argentina and Uruguay.
I’d like to add here a reply from one of those friends to my news that Stu had just died. I feel the way he does:
“Oh boy, sad news Harry. What a fine gentleman, he really impressed me. Thanks for letting me know.
“I enjoyed his company in South America very much and often think of him and that wonderful trip. Tonight I raise my glass and say a prayer for Stu.”
Ruthy and I and our daughters Kathleen and Caroline say thank you Stu for everything you added to our lives.

Dearest Bev, Ellen, Todd and Hope
Considering I am one of your oldest friends Bev, I must say you did good, choosing Stu to
be the love of your life, your mentor and admirer. Stu was a very special guy, cleverly funny,
gentle, kind, always informed and bright and set in his ways. Jack and I will remember our fun conversations when Stu would share his stories of his many trips. (a most important part of his life)
Jack always enjoyed his conversations with Stu about World War 11,
but most of all Stu
was the best listener of all the men we know. He will always be a part of cherished memories.
He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dearest Beverly and Ellen,
I am still in Florida, and was so saddened to hear of Stu’s passing. I will always remember his dry wit, easy smile, and loving kindness, for all the years I spent at SCSU – since 1975!
May the happy memories of your joy-filled times together, sustain you for all the days to come!
With love and deepest sympathy, joyce
