I am so sorry to hear of Rita’s passing. My daughters and I have such wonderful memories of her and all your family at Woodhaven. I always remember meeting her at the pool and if school was still in session, she would be doing her work or grading papers, but never failed to talk and schmooz and especially pay attention to Katie, Maddy and eventually Erin. We hope that you are all doing as well as you can. You have all of our thoughts and prayers..

Heartfelt sorrow on hearing about Rita’s passing. Through my twenty years of teaching at Amity High School, Rita was always supportive of our programs in the Visual and Performing Arts Department. Her support enabled our programs to grow and reach so many students. Her continued support meant the world to me on a professional and personal level. My condolences and prayers to all the members of her family.

Stan & family,
We are saddened to hear of Rita’s passing. We will always remember her joy and laughter at the Woodhaven Club pool and the times we spent at many Sigma Xi dinners. Our kids fondly remember her as an inspiring teacher at Amity Middle School in Bethany.

So sorry to hear about your mom! I have so many memories of all the fun times we had at the pool club all those summers long ago. It was a bunch of Fischman’s and Gedansky’s running wild and free. Your mom was such a wonderful woman, always so kind and loving. She and my mother worked hard to out tan each other every summer. May her memory be a blessing!

We were honored to stream services and hear kind words about Aunt Rita’s welcoming and commanding presence, that we’re lucky to have shared. Dean is donating a percentage of every summer’s earnings to Aunt Rita’s scholarship fund to total her birth year. Dean and Madeleine especially loved the story about teaching “NEW math” incorrectly; Rita keeps making us smile…

I am thinking of you all at this very sad time. We’ll miss Rita, sitting in her chair, at the pool and having the best tan of anyone!

I want to express my deep condolences to Rita’s family – she was a wonderful friend, a terrific teacher and a joy to be around! Always smiling and finding the fun in each day made her a delightful person to be around – teachers, students, everyone enjoyed the sunshine she brought. She was a great supporter of everything Amity – sports, academics, students, teachers, parents. She will be missed by so many who knew her. May her memory be a blessing!

Our condolences to your family on the loss of an amazing lady. I served with Rita on the Amity Board of Ed and she was incredibly supportive of all things Amity. She had a great sense of humor – I will always remember her smiling, with a twinkle on her eye. We competed occasionally for the best tan – have to say, though I came close one time, she was the clear winner, every time. May your wonderful memories bring you comfort.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Your mom was an amazing woman and a great friend to our mom. The way they loved selling hot dogs at the booster club basketball games and WFBL in the food truck is something many will cherish. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

To the Gedansky family,
Please know that my family and I are sharing in your grief. Your Mother was an exceptional person. It was always a pleasure to hear her greet me and it was so cherished in the way that she always embraced and supported Hunter and Cory as if they were her own. It was truly a privilege to all of us to be considered ” honorary Gedansky’s” Despite there being a family void that can never be replaced I hope that you will take comfort in all of the love and cherished memories that your Mother provided. Please know that you will be forever in our prayers.

I am saddened to read of Rita’s passing. She was a dear wife , mom and grandmom. Always sharing pictures and stories of the family. My first years at Amity Bethany , Rita showed “the kid” as she called me, how to have fun doing cafe duty!
As years passed my participation on the AEA negotiating team and Rita’s on the Bd presented many memorable moments.
She and Stan Were Amity. Together they were the faces of what Amity stood for.

May Rita’s memory be a blessing

Our condolences on the passing of your beloved mother and grandmother. I wanted to share a very positive memory of Rita. She absolutely loved her “square” at the Wood Haven pool oh so many years ago when they still had their pool! She would read to her heart’s delight as she watched everyone in the pool. Friends would come and sit by her has she “held court” at the pool. I do not believe she missed a day all summer long. This is one of my happiest memories of your dear mom.
She was a devoted teacher at Amity Bethany and a Board of Education member. She should be remembered for her devotion to educating our youth. I encouraged being a colleague of hers at Amity Bethany.

My thoughts are with all of you as you celebrate her vibrant life.

I have some blessed memories of the beloved Rita Gedansky going back to 1979 at the Woodhaven pool club in Bethay. I adored her friendly manner and her caring for others as well as her talents as a teacher. She will most certainly be missed. Loving lights will always be here on earth as we think of her and her soulful gifts.
I see her now, smiling with love! Shelives in our hearts forever!
