Lou and Rachel were not only special friends of my beloved Mother, but also Point East Two Condominium, and Anita Gilden and me. Lou volunteered to serve on the condo board of directors with us and Rachel attended every meeting to lend her support. My fondest memories are sharing weekly dinners during their winter stay and the holiday parties we enjoyed with Nancy and Larry. We will always save the Snickers bars for Lou. In packing up their condo home, I got to know Michelle and Barry, Cindy and Neil, and the Arovas family who all lovingly desired to remember Lou and Rachel with mementos of their family which I forwarded to them. Please take solace in knowing what a special love Lou and Rachel shared and the blessing of the family they created with that love. Anita and I will miss their annual, returning seasonal visits and, of course, the friendship they extended with smiles and good cheer.

Growing up, I always treasured visits to see my aunt Rae and uncle Louie, and my cousins Michelle and Cynthia. Both Rae and Lou were very dear to me, and the two of them had a remarkably loving and durable marriage that was truly exemplary. As an adult, I enjoyed talking with uncle Louie about his service in the Navy, which he clearly regarded as deeply significant, and an experience which remained with him throughout his entire life. I remember the love and devotion with which he would treat Ollie, carrying him outside when the dog could no longer walk on his own. It is gratifying to remember their love and kindness, as well as the fact that both my aunt and uncle lived long lives, which, despite their trials and tragedies, brought them children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Dear Michelle,

My sympathies for the loss of you Dad. While I only met him briefly a couple of times it was obvious that he was a happy man and that you cared for him and your Mom deeply. I’m sure you have memories that will be with you forever. My Mother and Dad have been gone now for 15 years or so, but there are always memories there to cherish. All my best, Doak

We will miss Lou and Rachel, who were among our best friends for many years at Point East. We cruised and celebrated in other ways each year for our anniversary and Lou’s birthday. Rachel and I played canasta and mah jongg. Larry played pool with Lou. We shared Hanukah & New Year’s parties each year. We swam!!! So many good times with such good people. Their memories are a blessing. All best wishes, Nancy Pogel & Larry Landrum

My sincerest condolences to Michelle and Cindy. I have such fond memories of both Rae and Lou. Summers at the beach, hanging out at your house, chasing Ollie. They were always warm and welcoming to your friends.
