Our sincerest condolences to Jan’s family and friends.
We were blessed with Jan’s friendship for almost 30 years and he was an honorary uncle to our Nusslings.
He will forever remain in our hearts and memories for his humor and companionship.
With all our love, dear friend

My sincere condolences to Jan’s sister Marcia and his brother Alan, and to their spouses. Also to his nieces and extended family and to dear friends such as Celia. In CT, Jan was well known for his Xmas parties, his generosity to the children of coworkers and friends, his talent at playing the piano & organ, and his various collections (menorim, Japanica, Tyfany-style lamps, dogs, and unique outdoor gardens). With a brilliant mind, Jan earned a Ph.D in Engineering, which requires a mastery of the 5 main fields of Engr’g from the City College of N.Y. while suffering the early yrs of Crohn’s Disease. He earned a Juris degree but due to his work demands at Sperry & later at Sikorsky Aircraft, he practiced only on his own personal behalf. Jan was my dearest friend; we’d discuss myriad subjects, we’d laugh, we’d argue, we’d ho yo Stormville shows, we’d go to Sunday brunches (bacon!), and I was thrilled to tell him he had peonies near his pond due to bird poop – how prosaic. If only I could have one of those peonies now to transplant to my garden… He is forever in my heart. Love, Gail

I will greatly miss my special long distance friend, musician, organist,philosopher/theologian, and kind, caring soul – Jan David. Our weekly or more often phone chats grew more as though neighbors than a 15 hour drive away and certainly enhanced my life much the past 8 years. His acknowledgment of and longing for relief from physical existence on earth is now reality with the peace and rest he spoke without fear of to come. I hold to the Shalom he wished me and the fond memories of endless inquiry and observations of life’s navigation from this one of few who could be called “genuine friend”.
