I worked with Howard at Platt and truly adored him. He was a wonderful man with a fantastic sense of humor! May you forever cherish his memory and feel his love.

Howard was one the finest and best friends to all he touched while teaching at Platt Tech,. Always purposeful and direct, whether I liked it or not, he never let me or our students down. Howard could explain and deliver lessons from physics, geography, math or perhaps even how to live a decent and good life.He never needed to work for us at school because he already had made his mark on history.. Howard did it because he loved it and his legacy is one of those real deals that can’t be replaced. My condolences and prayers are for Shirley and family, but I will not pray for Howard…I will pray to him, that the love, intellect and compassion he shared with us stays with us forever.Amen.

I am sure the love of family & friends will surround you now, Shirley. I shared this sad news with my daughter who lives in France and met Howard last summer when you two brought dinner after my husband’s surgery. My Jill and your Howard had a long discussion about favorite books; she just wrote this: “I’m so sorry to hear about your friend! Yes, I remember him, he seemed like a charming and thoughtful person.”

Shirley-and family
We have much to say-we will say later. I knew Howard was not totally well, but we (Harvey, Mary Jane and Rachel are still in shock and saddened.
Howard was an interesting man of many talents and pursuits. I am glad he got to follow one of his last dreams with his trip to Egypt. We will talk later.
