On this day of Helene’s funeral, my thoughts continue to be with her.
I wish to add that it was her suggestion and encouragement that led me to the
path of further education to procure a degree that enabled me to teach for
20 years in the Hamden School System. In the same system Helene enjoyed
an impeccable reputation and many plaudits for her position at Hamden
High School. I’m sure she was able to play an influential role in students’
lives that had lasting effects. She leaves behind a legacy of high standards
and generosity.

Helene was a role model for me. I met her through O.R.T. and got to know her
through the work that we did. It was a very personal relationship, sharing our
family joys and problems throughout many years. She defined a life that
emphasized achievement, high values, and good works. She and her husband, David, made sure their children received the finest education and exposure to
culture. They traveled widely and were familiar with different ways of life.
An excellent hostess, we enjoyed many holiday meals and observances, and
she was gracious and generous in all that she did. I shall miss her very much.

I’ll never forget how much Helene meant to me at Hamden High. I was a library aide, and she was kind and supportive. She taught me bookkeeping. Well, she tried. Also, a long-time family friend. May her memory be a blessing. Karen (Glassner) Abrahams, Renee Glassner, Aleta Glassner.
