Elliot was simply one of the all-time greats in my life… I will always remember him for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor and a true caring for the people he knew (or didn’t know yet)… I really got to know Elliot when working at the ‘Quality’ while in college… (Dave and I have been friends since 7th grade at Hamden Hall and then roommates when I was at FDU). Elliot always wanted to help and teach people about the endless varieties of wines from around the world…and it didn’t matter if it was a lower or higher priced bottle – he just enjoyed informing the people about THAT product… You could tell it was his passion… When there were occassional lulls with the walk in customers, we’d talk about our New York ‘football’ Giants, maybe over a few ‘Yankee Doodle’ burgers for lunch… The Super Bowl parties at the house were the best – endless food, drink and laughter… with a great group of friends, relatives and a bunch of Yalies…

He was a good friend and one of the nicest people I have ever met… I’m so glad that Elliot was a part of my life… Rest In Peace El…

Love, Steve

Lisa and David,
Elliot was a good soul who always had a smile on his face. It was great to hear the stories from some of the people whose lives he impacted for the better. Your dad as well as your mom were lovely people and they will be missed greatly. The service was lovely and I am sure he wouldn’t have said it was too long.

We each feel blessed to have known Eliot, shared a few holiday meals and many laughs with him. He was a sweet man with a kind soul and generous spirit. He clearly lives on through each of you – David, Lisa and Josh. Each of you clearly embrace the same joy, compassion and love of life that your dad and PopPop shared so easily. May the memories comfort you and bring you joy in the days, weeks and years to come.
Much love –
Eileen, Chris and Ian

David and Lisa,
Thank you for sharing your wonderful father with me growing up. He always had a smile for me and made me feel very special, a wonderful man. I truly enjoyed all of the time our families spent together.

Dear David and Lisa,
While viewing Elliott’s funeral many beautiful memories of him have crossed my mind. Although Elliott and I have lived far away from each other for many years there is a very special place in my heart for him. One of my most poignant memories of him, is our find filled bike rides through the streets of New Haven together with his dog Chrissy, each of whom raced ahead of me.
May all of our many happy and loving memories of your Dad help us through this time of great loss and sadness.
With deepest sympathy and love from both Peter and me,
Cousin Linda Rosenfield Hoffman

We were greatly saddened to read of Elliott’s passing in the newspaper. We hadn’t seen him since the Shiva for Judy, but both Elliot and Judy were two of our favorite people — wonderful neighbors and friends. The services reminded us once again how they have enriched our lives. We miss them both.

Dear Lisa and David,
I was so sorry to read of the death of your dad, Elliot was the jolliest and friendliest man I ever knew. Whenever I was in the neighborhood, I would go into the Quality Wine Store, step over the dog, and say Hi to your father. He always greeted me as though I was the one person he’d hoped to see that day.
I can remember a lot of fun times Ronnie and I had with your parents. Now your mom and dad are dead, and Ronnie too died six years ago. With your dad’s passing, a great many people in New Haven must feel as though they’ve lost a friend.
Love, Pam Reis
