Dr. Gans was the orthodontist for my children. He was unfailing polite, interested in them, and considerate. I respected him and enjoyed our interactions. My condolences to the family

How lucky I am to have known Alan! Over the past few years, he attended portrait drawing classes at the Guilford Art Center, where I teach.
Of his past, I knew only that his father had been a dentist to Paul Newman, and that Alan had a career in orthodontics. He joked that it had taken a long time to get to where he could finally make a living. I always sensed that he’d lived an exceptional life.
He had such dignity and warmth, humor and acuity. And I’m happy to say that he was a very talented artist, as well. He had his own sensitive and distinctive style that would capture a likeness every time. They were lovely drawings.
He was such a dear, dear man, and I miss him greatly.

Dear Alan-
Sometimes people step into your life for a short time and make a lasting impression- you were that person for me. I will miss your stories and company and your inspirational outlook on life. I am so sad to not be able to continue this journey with you but I will treasure the time we had forever. Thank you

Alan!! or Dr. Alan as I would sometimes say to change things up a bit!! Your response of course…. “Ohhhhh Danielleeeeee, how are youuuu!!!” LOL- I can’t believe you’re gone, I was supposed to come and visit when all this “Corona” was over. Ughh, but I’m so glad we spoke on your Birthday, and had a chance to catch up on each other’s lives. Although I only knew you for a short period of time, that’s all I needed to realize what an Amazing “Fella” you were.

Thank you for accepting me right from the start!! Thank you for letting me know I had another real FRIEND!! HA… a friend that was Lieutenant during the Korean War… You know I will brag to my friends about that one. Along with ALL your Awesome accomplishments. I’m Proud to have known you and blessed that I was in you life!! My thoughts and Prayers to his Nieces and the Family.

Love Always,
Danielle
