Dear Abby, Julie and Barry- I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of Red especially at the JCC and Chuck’s. My dad used to bring us to Chuck’s every week and it felt like Red was there every single time! I also remember all the encouragement he gave me during the wonderful years of b-ball at the JCC from the Biddy League on up to the varsity team. I always felt his warmth and kindness and thats a memory that will last forever. Again, my condolences to the whole family.
Barry, so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. Be well in these tough times., Howard Meyer
Dear Abby and family,
It is with my deepest condolences to learn of the passing of Coach Red. Red played a special part in molding me to the man I am today. He was my coach, mentor, and a father figure during my adolescent years in New Haven. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Be well and stay safe.
I’m very, very sorry. I send my condolences. Red was a cool guy indeed– mench first class. Every time I saw him– and heard his stories– it brightened my day. I got a kick out of Lisa’s reference to the kibutzing at Chuck’s (remember, as she knows: it’s “Lunchette”– not “Luncheonette!”), where I was a busboy extraordinaire.
Red had a special presence that I will warmly recall. I hope that the best memories (times of warmth, accomplishment, laughter, love) rise to the top to help you through the toughest days.
my deepest sympathy Red was one of the best
Hang in there Abby all my love
Dear Abby, Julie, and Barry,
I am very sorry for your loss and send you my deepest sympathy. Red and my dad were lifelong friends. I have very warm memories of Red with all of the guys kibutzing at Chuck’s. Please know I am thinking of you and all of your family at this difficult time. Sending my very best to you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of seeing your Dad at your home many years ago.
Your old friend, Diane Simpson Greiner
Abby and family: Deepest condolences to all. Red was quite a guy. I have great memories
of that “older” group of guys and Red in particular. I admired him as a coach of the Juniors
while paying for Izzy and the varsity back when.

Abby,Barry and family; We our deeply sorry for your loss of your dear husband Red. I have great memories of our family gatherings and enjoyed Red’s stories when I use to see him at coffee time Sundays at Dunkin Donuts back in the old days with the gang. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.
Abby and family: so sorry for your loss. He was a great basketball coach at the JCC, but an even better role model and mentor for young guys like me when we were growing up and playing in high school. I have many great memories from those days. RIP Red.
I am so saddened bye your dad’s passing. I had the deepest respect and admiration for him. I enjoyed the many games I played for him and with him.
Once again my condolences.
Abby and family, We were so sorry to read about Red, what a great guy. Makes me think of my dad (Yuddie) and the olden days when all the guys hung out at Chucks and we saw all those familiar faces. And now during this horrific time in the world nothing is familiar or easy. Sending you our deepest sympathy. Love Carol & Joel

A true legend of the New Haven JCC. When I started my basketball time there I looked up to Red as the Godfather of the game. Although I never played for him, his presence was always felt at every game. I was honored to have met him and to have been a part of the legacy of players and coaches that he was so intricate in influencing.
My deepest condolences to his family.
I wish you peace and health during this difficult time.
