Arthur Freeman, 93 Arthur Freeman passed peacefully on March 19, 2020 at his home. Art is survived by his wife of 69 years, Geri; his sons Bruce (Katharine “Kipp”), Craig (Laurie), and Gary (Arlene-deceased); his grandchildren Heidi, Brian (June), Adam (Rachel), Amanda, Molly, Meredith, and Scott; and 4 great grandchildren Evelyn, Abigail, Maia, and Samuel. Art was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 15, 1927 to Sydney and Elizabeth Freeman. He graduated early from high school in Dec, 1944 to enlist in the Army during WWII and served until Dec 1946. He received a BSME from CCNY in 1951, an MSME from Lehigh in 1956, and was licensed as a Professional Engineer in NY and PA in 1958. Art was an engineering manager at GE-Housewares for 34 years and Black & Decker for 11 years. He was awarded 15 U.S. Patents for engineering design work on the first electric knife, the first toaster oven, electric can openers, and other products. He was awarded the Ralph J. Cordiner Award, one of GE’s highest engineering honors, and was in Who’s Who in Engineering. Outside work, Art was active in Jr. Achievement, Habitat for Humanity, and other charities, and was a volunteer tutor at Mercy Learning Center. He loved golf, bowling, and crossword puzzles but was happiest when surrounded by his family and the family’s dogs. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him and his great smile.
